The Mayor, The Honorable James T. Muldowney, is the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Pottsville, and Director of the Department of Public Affairs. The Department of Public Affairs includes the Mayor's Office, Bureau of Police, and Zoning and Code Enforcement Office, and Health Office.

The Office of the Mayor is located on the third floor of City Hall. Merideth Hannan is the Mayor's Secretary, the Right-to-Know Officer, and the Claims Coordinator for the City of Pottsville, and is responsible for the coordination of all workers' compensation and liability claims.
